Also, when thinking about these incoming drone wars, does anyone really see any sense in two “nations” sending off a bunch of robots to face each other on the trench torn battlefield? It really makes no sense (even less so than regular warfare) wouldn’t it just be easier to create a really mean simulation instead? Whoever wins the “battle” gets the contested area, the local population needen’t even know about the “takeover,” they will know.
Living in the woods is going to be SWEET.
I liked the humor at the end when James and James had their inside joke going.

‘Tears In Rain’ is the final monologue of the Replicant Roy Batty in the movie Blade Runner. It is much quoted and has been described as “perhaps the most moving death soliloquy in cinematic history”. The final form of the speech was improvised by Rutger Hauer, the actor who delivers it.

Basically, there is no way to tell whom is being truthful in this event, the “offender” may have been bating the cops to make the video, but most of their conduct wasn’t exemplary. I do think he didn’t help his cause by blowing the lid like that in the end, but there appears to be some piled up angst behind his words.
Anyway, what I found most interesting are the reactions in the comments sections. Now, there are two possibilities: these people are not people but bots or, best case scenario, shills. Or they are extreme sycophants.
At 2:51, the cop admits that he “pulls people over all the time” on this speed trap.
One night, my wife and I were traveling back south from Oklahoma to the Dallas area. In a far, far north suburb of Dallas a cop pulled us over and cited us for speeding 15 miles per hour over the speed limit. It didn’t make sense, because I had the cruise control on. I realized that a car had passed us going at a much higher speed just prior to being pulled over. But I was ruffled by the stop and didn’t bring it up.
So, after setting a court date, I made a day trip for a trial in this far north suburb.
The judge knew the cop on a first name basis.
The cop was kind of smug and confident.
I told my story to the judge…’cruise control at the speed limit’, dark, lots of traffic, car(s) passing me.
The judge found in my favor, and tried to gracefully tell the cop to be more sure with his radar. It was a sensitive situation for the judge, because he didn’t want to piss off his friend.
And, the next case was also a lady who, like me, was given a ticket for speeding while her car was on cruise control.

Like you said mkey, the comment section is interesting. It definitely does not contain ‘diplomatic’ comments.
What you reference here is reflected in the “part 3” video, “part 1” being the one I linked above. In it, the lieutenant handling the FOIA (who turns out to be one square balls to bones dude) explains how these standard radars have a cone like beam and it can indeed give of a wrong reading if the correct car hasn’t been targeted, something the cop is supposedly trained to do with this machine. At least he has a certificate for attending such training. But without a camera or any sort of a recording device, it’s all basically just hearsay.
There’s also a possible issue with the angle at which the radio waves are bounced from the vehicle, depending on the relative position of the two vehicles. I’d say the shape of the chassis also plays a role in the measurement accuracy.
I also found it interesting how the cop in question pulled over (or better said wrote a ticket for) only this guy on that day and not anyone lese during the following 3 or 4 days, until the FOIA happened. Who knows what’s that about, I guess it could be explained in any number of ways. Maybe he was expecting a bit too much heat so he decided to cool it a bit, I really much doubt these traffic cops may afford to not stop people for days in the row.
Locally, it is known that traffic cops get issued orders to deliver said amount of tickets on any given day, a task for which several speed traps are setup on certain places. Like a stretch of 40kmph limit open road while before and after the stretch the limit is 70.
Many people in the comments section possibly misunderstood how speeding is handled in Florida. The “offender” was doing 54 mph in 50 mph area, but supposedly you need to be at least 6 mph over the speed limit for it to be considered speeding. Locally, we have something like 10% or 6kmph deduction which basically means that the standard deviation of the measuring device is to be subtracted from the measurement to be in favor of the “offender.” But all of that is, I think, more of a custom than actual law in my neck of the woods.

Kyle T. Pixley grew up in the Hampden/Wilbraham-area of Massachusetts. After graduating high school in 2005, he attended the University of Massachusetts-Amherst for four years. While there, he studied abroad in Australia. Pixley graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business administration/accounting in 2009. He was accepted into the master’s program for accounting at UConn and completed one semester there before he decided to enter the job market.
Pixley previously worked in the restaurant field, in tree removal and as an accounting supervisor before being hired as a police officer for the Cheshire Police Department in 2014.
So, in effect this Kyle fellow, for instance, was hired as a police officer without any formal training.

Hiring new officers without any law enforcement experience means having to wait an extended period of time before they can begin patrolling the town on their own.
Dryfe said two officers with experience had applied for the position that Pixley was ultimately selected for, but withdrew their names from consideration after learning that the town is phasing out a defined-benefits pension in favor of a public employee version of a 401(k).
This reads to me they wanted to hire cheaper cops so you give an eager accountant a gun and hope for the best. What could go wrong? I mean, it’s not like these guys need to know the law or have any common sense.

About these libraries, nearly 30 years ago, the little town we lived in had a lg room in the town hall that was unused. Some volunteers turned it into a “give and take shop.” People would come to leave everything from clothes to kitchen gadgets to books to toys. A few years later when we moved to the downtown of a small city, I continued the habit of sharing with our neighbors by leaving various things, including books, out on the front yard. I share mostly books and plants these days. Is this supposed to be a new idea?
I am glad that it’s taking off, but really, this is absolutely nothing new. Reminds me of the know-it-all kids who spout their “genius” at being frugal with the goal of retiring early. They actually think they invented it. Ugh.
I look at millennials and wonder if we were this ignorant. I suppose it’s an age old question. 😉
