“Propaganda” by Edward Bernays

  1. The black/white logical fallacy as propaganda tool

I would like to explain how the 2 party system is propaganda.
As it automatically makes every decision black/white.

“There is nothing which I dread so much as a division of the republic into two great parties, each arranged under its leader, and concerting measures in opposition to each other. This, in my humble apprehension, is to be dreaded as the greatest political evil under our Constitution.”
    — John Adams, Letter to Jonathan Jackson (2 October 1780), “The Works of John Adams”, vol 9, p.511

The political discussions revolve around things that
are stirring emotionally. Decisions that one side is totally
convinced of to be a solution, and the other side
    is totally opposed against.

These things are not meant to go anywhere.
Just to stir up emotions so much that people can not think
    clear any more.
Like climate change and climate alarmism, which is
technocratic propaganda, only visible in the
    solutions that are pushed.
It does deal with the climate, but about technocratic dictatorship.

But on the other side, the environment can be damaged with
the destructive extraction methods. And other forms of pollution.
Things are not black/white but grey.
But people get lost in the discussions (and fights) about things
    that are not important.

    It leads to:
    1. “if you are not fore us, you are against us”
    2. “the enemy of my enemy is my friend”
    3. “we have to chose the lesser evil”

    1. Used in 9/11
    2. Saudi Arabia
    3. Clinton / Trump, Interventionism

I think that this fallacy is the biggest propaganda tool that
the modern population is being controlled with.
That is because information does not help you to get out
of this. You need the right information.

And the official media seems to be specialized into putting out
propaganda stories to make us fear or angry about the decisions
    of “the other side”.
In many cases you are not even allowed to speak with the other side.

The truth is: There is no other side.

We are all people being manipulated into choosing one side
and being angry about the other. While we all have unique experiences,
and our own ideas and solutions.

    • Weird Conspiracies as propaganda tool

When an event happens, the media is the first to come out with
      “The Narrative”.
In a 2 party-system, there is also a “Counter Narrative”

The more investigating people start to study the events and
usually find a totally different story.

This is when the weird conspiracies start, especially when
      people get very emotional.
While some of these emotionally stressed people might even be
close to psychosis, I think some of these are deliberately planted.
Often unknown to the people spreading them.
Like the Qanon stuff. Or the OrangeManBad stuff.

And, oh yes, those people with that totally different story.
      What did they find?

In the mean while the weird conspiracies get more emotional.
Because they are related to gun-laws, environmental destruction.
And people indeed find that such laws are promoted.
Also stories show up, that show that guns are being taken.
Or that Australia is on fire. And that people need to stop
having kids. And we see protests all over the world.
And what about the children that are used for child prostitution?

The real investigators find that the events were planned in some way.
The police/agencies did not stop the event from happening.
And some weird money transfers are going on.

There is a WW3 coming. We need to fight Trump. But the democrats
want the same. What is going on? Some people say
they are all evil people connected with Israel. But isn’t that
racist? But Qanon knows? Or maybe the cause is climate change?
      Or energy weapons from space?

The investigators identify some of the people that started the events.
They are some people that are in the Agencies, working separate from
the others together with some very high level criminals.
They explain it to the people and show the evidence.

But the people don’t believe in “conspiracy nonsense” anymore.

    • Funny thing:
I posted the black/white fallacy on Saidit too.
And the first respond is claiming that KGB is responsible.

Note: This demonstrates exactly how well the propaganda works.

      • link: https://saidit.net/s/conspiracy/comments/24aa/the_blackwhite_logical_fallacy_as_propaganda_tool/

The person was referring to the former KGB agent, who explains the different stages of KGB propaganda.
There is a stage chaos, which seems to be similar to what I stated.

This video still goes around, and makes people afraid of a non-existing KGB.

In the mean time the chaos in the US (and in some other countries) is created by the CIA, who does this propaganda work since its existence.

But the CIA has books and movies that explain how they are the “good guys”, that “steal, lie and cheat” for good reasons. 😉

        • Yes. Would be interesting how some of the new propaganda is working.

          Some new trends:
          – Use of scientists and experts.
          – Old one used against Iran: Fear of terrorist cells.
          – discussions on social media by organizations (correct the record)
          – Banning of people that have a different opinion (Corbett).
          – “Life reports” of (staged?) events (Hong Kong).
          – Inciting violence on such events (Venezuela).
          – Not reporting certain information (Douma leaks).
          – Diverting discussions from important issues (like: censor the internet).
          – Repeating (Russia Putin Russia)
          – Obvious lies in news
          – Use of conspiracies (Russia/China)
          – Use of children or other “victims”
          – Secret invisible software/hardware/hackers.

          Solution?

But to counter them I like to focus on logical fallacies, because
          most propaganda use logical fallacies.

Black/white fallacy – see first post.
Straw man fallacy (via weird conspiracies) – see second post.

And what Corbett does with the #propagandawatch videos helps
a lot too. He is teaching many people to understand
          how propaganda works.

  2. I keep a list of urls on my desk top. Max Egan put his IP address up recently in case they shadow ban him. I can go straight to his site via that. That’s convenient enough for me. But, perhaps I’ll break that habit too – occasionally.

  3. inertia
    1. a tendency to do nothing or to remain unchanged.

    2. (Physics)
a property of matter by which it continues in its existing state of rest or uniform motion in a straight line, unless that state is changed by an external force.

  4. Within the past month or so, on my computer, the YouTube Recommended Video list has changed radically from what it had been.

God forbid if I am curious about just one movie, or one actor, or a musical piece. The next time I go to YouTube, that is almost all I see… “entertainment type material”.

  5. I don’t know what’s worse, being shadow-banned or outright censored?
Both essentially amount to the same thing really.

I basically boycott one of Canada’s major MSM outlets now due to their censorship habits of online comments.

Which is a good lead-in to more important stuff.

    1. How can we increase awareness of Mr. Corbett’s great work here, in a meaningful way? By that I mean in a viral fashion so that millions and millions are enlightened?

    2. How can we unite in a meaningful way to change the status quo wrt government and its control over us? While it is certainly educational and informative to visit Mr. Corbett’s site on a regular basis, I don’t really see light at the other end of the tunnel yet, and I fear that by the end of this decade and probably the next we will still be a relatively small well-informed community here, but have little to show for it.

  6. Want to defeat shadowbanning? Make a “habit” of visiting individual websites.
While you’re there, subscribe monetarily, or make a donation. In James’ case, it’s incredibly affordable given the valuable information he provides. Problem solved!

  7. funnily enough I long have the habit to go directly to the corbettreport website. it probably stems from the wish to check out the fresh articles.

  8. Shadowbanning by MEETUP.COM

Back in 2006, Joe founded our group “North Texans for 911 Truth” via MEETUP.COM https://www.meetup.com/9-11-249/

At the time, it seemed like a good marriage. But we were young.
Our group is somewhat married to it (or held hostage). We have the archives, and many of our ‘meetup’ photos are linked and embedded at websites such as “911blogger.com”.
And we have our membership base.

MEETUP.COM has gradually changed policies and formats over the years, and their fees have continuously gone up. It is now quite expensive. About $200 a year to keep it going.
MEETUP.COM even got on the anti-Trump campaign and formed free “RESIST” Meetup Groups for anyone who wanted to run it locally anywhere in the country. Go figure.

Fortunately, no one in our group strives to be Boss. We have to beg someone to be Boss, or rather, to be an Organizer.
At different times in the past, I was an Organizer.
Currently, we have a great Organizer.

CENSORSHIP / Shadowbanning communications by Meetup
We can send out emails to all of our group members via Meetup. However, over the many years, even as an Organizer, there were odd occasions when the email doesn’t get sent. A new member might mistake this censorship as perhaps a moderation queue through the Organizer. In reality, it is Meetup.com who is censoring the emails.
In the past, I would have to jump through hoops contacting Meetup Support in order to resolve this group email censorship.

Recently, I have had some of my group emails censored.
    I contacted Meetup Support.
    Here is their response…

My name is L_____ and I work on Meetup’s Trust & Safety team. Thank you for reaching out.
Your emails are not being sent because they are getting stopped by our spam filters. Our filters block messages from accounts that mirror the behavior of typical spammers.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused, however, we cannot override the spam filters we have in place to protect our members from unwanted messages. I recommend altering the content of your message, waiting a bit, and trying to resend it again.”

One example of a censored email was this…
    “A must-see, must-share video.
This was an EXCELLENT presentation by Jerry Day!!”

which was my reply to an uncensored group email from a member entitled “5G Problems and Solutions – Jerry Day on The Corbett Report”

    • Another censored email was my reply to a group email from the Organizer giving us an “Update to our Meetup Subscription Costs”.

After asking how to send some funds, part of my message included:

      Some tidbit information…
      “WeWork” now owns Meetup Group.
“WeWork” has an interesting, wild, recent history with its past CEO, Adam Neumann and his friends.
WeWork is mainly controlled by a mega-huge Japanese corporation called “Softbank”. (Masayoshi Son, Japan’s richest man)
Softbank also owns a baseball team and other sports related entities which tends to attract stock investors.

  9. James, I recommend showing recent videos on your homepage instead of recent audio.
As is, it’s a bit confusing.
The items listed as ‘recent audio’ look like video links, and clicking them even usually takes the user to a video, so the user may get the impression that they’ve found your video feed; they may get the impression that they only need to come to the homepage to see your latest videos (no tab/category clicking required).
And that, of course, will result in them missing some videos (including this one).
