I believe the financial system all over the world is run by the same gang of elite banksters. The West, Russia, China and South America all use the same debt-based money system that enslaves people. Recent developments in creating some counterbalances to US dominance is merely meant to perpetuate this system and expand to new markets. It may even be profitable for the banksters to shift the balance completely and crash the US dollar.

It is very important to watch how the chess pieces are moving, but we have to remember that this game is rigged. Creating a bipolar or even tripolar world might suit the needs of the puppeteers very well.

An excellent article James. Although I think in the end I see this as some sort of a bankster/financial oligarch turf war, I think you're quite right to point out that having at least some alternative to the "Washington consensus" will at least bring some semblance of balance and perspective to the world, and at least attempt to humble the arrogant, delusional and increasingly hysterical ruling class of the Western oligarchy.

I recall reading an article a long time ago which argued that the presence of the USSR kept the US in check and vice versa. It went on to argue that having a counterbalance provided some measure of deterrence from having the U.S. rampaging around the world, which it immediately seized on once it became the "lonely superpower." It also forwarded the point that economically, the financial oligarchy had to limit its usurious lust of robbing the average folks, because there was an "alternative model," albeit Soviet-style communism, for whatever that's worth. Consequently, real wages were far higher, and the gap between rich and poor was not as wide. Although one can attribute many reasons for these things, I think the general point is, a monopoly in any one thing is always bad - be it finance, politics, economics, military, etc.

A very good article, worth reading. One can easily see the temptation to use financial ratings as a political tool. I wonder if it is possible to be unbiased in todays world. Athletes that dope up tend to end up as the winners.
Corporate profits grow even bigger when morality is thrown out the window. In any event, the more people who are aware, apply critical thinking, and get their information from credible sources, the better off we all will be.
