by | Sep 19, 2016 | Film, Literature & The New World Order | 20 comments

The sElection is upon us and the tensions are rising as the summer of rage gives way to the autumn of our discontent. And wouldn’t you know it, Hollywood is already programming purges, legalized murder and “anarchy” into the population. This month on Film, Literature and the New World Order James Evan Pilato joins James Corbett to discuss The Purge: Election Year.

  1. 1) HYPERBOLIC CONTRAST: Sure, “reality” is absurd, violent at times and pretty awful ….. but at least it hasn’t gotten THIS bad.

(Sure, Hillary is greedy but….who isn’t? Aren’t we all ambitious? Don’t we all want to get ahead? Don’t we all want to be popular and win? Isn’t that what America is all about? Who doesn’t tell a little white lie now and then? Vote for Hillary and feel good about it.)

    2) BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR: Don’t like the police arming themselves like some futuristic Schwarzennegar army? You want anarchy? Look what would happen if not for the benevolent centralized powers looking after our best interests.

    3) DESENSITIZATION: People scarcely react to news of bombs blowing people up in public places anymore. What? The Blue Jays lost another game? Jennifer Aniston stubbed her toe?

This flick is but a hyperbole to make reality seem less absurd. As official “reality” becomes less believable, mainstream entertainments must become even more so.

    • oops….last 3 words of my rant should have been….

      even LESS so

  2. Hi James, just my 2 cents on your commentary suggesting that even movies with an anti war sentiment still glorify war, while i totally agree in most instances, one of my fav movies Johnny got his gun i would say is an exception to this (maybe the only one?). i guess the thing that differentiates it is the sheer amount of time it spends showing the tragedy of war vs the time it shows glorifying it. So it can be done, but then i guess all we need do is look at the consequences for Mr Trumbo for making the film to see where it gets you. Would love to see an FLNWO on that film by the way, and the context around it and the film maker.
    Keep up the good work.

  3. If Hillary Clinton is progressive, it is because Bernie Sanders got a hold of the Democrat party platform and his supporters were able to make some changes in exchange for his support. In my opinion, I consider Clinton to be a women’s choice, Wall Street, Bilderberg, NATO, warmonger (weaker nation asset stripping) candidate with the blessing of the Bush/Franklin Pierce Family.

  4. Thank you both for your amusing conversation about “The Purge”. I’ve enjoyed it quite a bit.
I agree with you that this movie at the end of the day (I mean: at the end of the night;-) has to show how important it is to vote – in this case our vote should go to the “politically correct” candidate, of course.
At the end of the film the senator and her body guard are able to convince even the resistance that they should go to “vote” instead of committing a political murder. Well, they maybe won’t go to vote, but at least they agree with the political strategy, not to help the wrong side by accident by killing the wrong candidate .
Oh, didn’t we all secretly wish to see her craizy opponent die?
    – No, no, no! Vade retro! Bad, bad, bad diabolic thoughts! We spectators must be strong now. We have to try to purge those immoral wishes – and after all this enjoyable brutality – by humbly giving our vote to the politically correct candidate. And we want our candy now!
(I hope my English isn’t to painfull to read;-)

  5. The purge is about the anger/revenge authoritarian or violence to solve differences or resolve problems, which doesn’t work, sadly this ‘show’ isn’t a comedy

  6. Hello James, very happy to be a new member. I started watching your videos a couple months ago and was very impressed with your depth of knowledge on so many topics.

I very much appreciate your take on this movie “The Purge”. I appreciate the other gentleman’s opinion, but it is a bit naive. Hollywood is ALL about propaganda and manipulation, how else could we be where we are today if not for extreme manipulation, priming, and conditioning.

Its not that everyone who works in Hollywood is “on the take”, it does not work like that. Its more about the reality that if you want your movie made, script considered, a role in a movie, you have to give them what they want. No movies about the evils of Wall Street, the real horrors of war (how it depletes nations of resources, and morality), you must always support the status quo, always, IF you want to work.

You hit the nail right on the head when you mentioned the idea of the purge glorifying violence. Hollywood, like music and every other form of entertainment is a tool, a tool to establish reality, build a narrative. It is never the obvious, the assumed objective of the film, but something that rests below the general story. But when you look at Hollywood as a whole or the movie industry you see the narrative, its divisiveness, its use of violence to resolve conflict, its fear of the people who are “different”…all the while acting like it is doing just the opposite.

  7. One other thought that is really starting to take hold in my mind, regarding what the hell is going on with this year’s election? You seem to be thinking is about building towards a violent conflict, and all signs seems to suggest you are right on the money.

Yesterday I was listening to Trump in an interview and they were talking about how bias and evil the media is. Now I agree, the media, thanks to Clinton/Reagan and possibly the CIA, is pretty much useless, but the media has indeed taken this to an all knew level, and Trump seems to be playing right along. But the other piece of the puzzle is the idea that if he does not win, the election is rigged, stolen. Time and again the sympathetic interviewer (Mike Savage-a major Islamophobic pig) asked Trump what could he do if they stole the election? And Trump did not dissuade that line of thinking but supported it. That is very telling.

There is absolutely no doubt we are being played, its determining their goal that is the only question. I watch movies with one eye on the plot, the other on the message. Whether it is overt building on racial tensions like Jango Unchained, or MLK, or endless feminist divisive drivel they dump into the American psyche, its all about attacking America from within. They frame the discussion, provide the question AND THE ANSWER.
Race, gender, sexual preference, immigration, they provide the problem, then provide a malicious and divisive answer. “All white men are racists, all white men have privilege, Americans are ALL immigrants”…and these “truths” are then used to stifle honest discourse within the society. We can’t even question Israel theft of land because America stole the land form the Indians, or so I have learned from watching Hollywood movies.

We are entering into a crazy time, more and more people are tuning out from the MSM, and we all know when the Zionists/oligarchs feel threatened, that is when things get really crazy: WW3 anyone…

  9. I watched all 3 films in preparation!!

Low level propaganda and dumb storylines aside, they were entertaining

  10. James,

Your comment about violence and human nature reminded me of a critique you might be interested in exploring. David Graeber wrote a short book called, “Fragments of an Anarchist Anthropology,” where he addressed the question of violence in anarchist societies.

  11. Thanks for this info, Mina. I know Pilato cited this recently on the Morning Monarchy (perhaps last Friday?) but it would be interesting to follow up with him about it.

  12. Youtube deleted the video? Is there an alternative?

  13. I watched about half, walked out, as I have been doing more and more over the decades.

I got hooked on movies at 7, 1950. When school started I stayed up til “sign-off” with my mother, watching mainly RKO movies, the best studio at the time. I became a critic early. Can’t help it, or as many a girlfriend has remarked, “You think too much.”

I used to think I was impervious to entertainment/news propaganda. I started to change my mind around 1980. When I am tired or had alcohol I am vulnerable. I don’t “think about it” enough. I just absorb it. That’s bad. That’s how people are programed with harmful ideas. It starts in kindergarten.

I liked “Dune” for the cinematography, the personal dialogues, the political intrigue, the acting, direction. BUT, it should be noted the backdrop takes authoritarianism as a given, the ONLY future. Some main characters are collectivist, some elitists “born to rule”, all violent warriors. It reminds me of a “Star Trek” episode where they are thrust into an alternate reality where everybody is violent.

I have noticed all my favorite TV shows portray authorities as violent, hypocritical, dangerous, e.g., “Alaska Daily”, “The Company You Keep” and the series produced by Disney “Andor” have been canceled. I predicted the latter after I saw the unthinkable scene where the hero Andor kills a psycho-cop. This was unusual, a forbidden “self-defense”. After 80% of the second season was completed, Disney canceled it, despite it’s popularity. Is this evidence of a worldwide attempt to erase any examples of the defense of rights to promote “The Most Dangerous Superstition”?

    • I think “Andor” season 2 is delayed, not cancelled as far as I know. The second season might not be as good though.
