This presentation was delivered at the TEDxGroningen conference in the Netherlands on November 20, 2014.

I have been very worried that ‘they’ will take away the internet as the next 9/11. As I am sure that most people are concerned as well.

I completely agree. The only thing I can imagine, and it’s difficult to imagine, the mention of only five corporations owning all the media, and that it created a bottleneck. If this is what caused their emotional temper tantrum they are getting very weak and frail. Pathetic creatures they are!
Was there any definitive conclusion to the aftermath of MH 17 crash? I’ve listened a Veritas Radio interview show on the MH 370 (and I guess touching on MH 17, too), but the guest is probably a bit ‘out there’.

James Corbett does a great job of “telling a story” in 11 minutes.
It grabs attention and interest, and flows so smoothly.
I agree, HRS. Although I’d watched this video several years ago and had heard James’ “internet in the apartment” tale several dozen times, the story felt brand new to me. What I especially admired about this telling was his completely natural, though obviously well-rehearsed, delivery. Good pace, emphasis, tone, enunciation. Each gesture he made looked natural, not forced or exaggerated. As perfect as a pro.
Best of all? James spared us such ridiculous-sounding filler words as “So . . .” and “sort of” and “kind of” and “like” and “you know,” all of which are, lamentably, the rage these days. Plus, he pronounced every word the way I learned it from my prim-and-proper New England-educated teachers, who from kindergarten through college drilled into us how to speak grammatically, how to pronounce each word precisely, and how to enunciate clearly, though conversationally–emphasizing and de-emphasizing the right words and syllables and even letters. (For instance, my ears are thankful James says “stu(dnt)” instead of that stupid-sounding, over-the-top “stu-Dent.” Ditto “di(dnt)” and not “di-DENT”!)
All this to say: Because James had no “quirks” in his delivery of this formal speech (not that he ever does in his day-to-day work, either), I was able to fully concentrate on and enjoy his message to the max. And, hey, I can’t be the only one who noticed in this speech the seedlings of his Media Matrix series, which blossomed and bore fruit last year (2022).

I watched the video and I don’t understand what the issue is. I would like to know what clause specifically it contravenes with. No “controversial” topics were discussed.
t.crsn, I guess what’s controversial is the entire body of work James has produced over the years. The censors knew it’d be easy for anyone who happened upon his TEDx talk on YouTube to find the bottomless rabbit hole called The Corbett Report.
It’s interesting to hear James’ take on the pre-censorship internet in 2014.
As the technocrats have now partially re-implemented the “thin pipe” through censorship once again, I’d be very interested to hear James record a corollary to this video with his 2023 perspective.

This was told to me by a man from Spain who had just been awarded a Master’s Degree from UC Berkeley, in 1980. He had done his Master’s thesis on Iktome, the Lakota Mercury/Coyote figure. He let me read it. I learned so much. How anyone could even consider that presentation as being worthy of any type of restriction just boggles the mind!
Things looked so rosey back then because
a) Mostly only people with at least average IQ could get on the Net (smartphones are evil)
b)The retarded college age freaks of today were still kids and, presumably, cute and lovable rather then a sad indictment of their parents letting their enemies educate and entertain them.
c) The attention economy had not yet turned older folks brains into mush
d) I had not yet realized how many people really do not care what the facts are, only about how they feel. You cant wake up people pretending to be asleep, as Mr Corbett once said.
