The Kickstarter campaign is officially underway. The goal is to raise $950,000 in pledges by April 14, 2016 and it’s an all-or-nothing proposition; either the funding goal is reached and the project goes ahead or the goal is not reached and no money is collected. So if you care about independent, people-powered media, please consider making a contribution. The details are up at and Kickstarter.

    I’m really interested in/excited about Newsbud but i don’t have a creditcard.
How am i going to give my pledge and pay?

    • Corbett says:

Thanks for the interest and the support. Kickstarter only accepts pledges by credit card, so you’ll have to check with the Newsbud team directly as to whether they have an alternative pledge system set up for non-credit card pledges. You can reach them via the contact form on

      • T.T. says:

Tried that and a couple of other email adresses but i didn’t get any reply.
I know they must be pretty busy but i’m worried that they’re going to miss out on a lot of people. At least a lot of people i know don’t have a creditcard.

Just really want this project to succeed.

Just heard back from Sibel. Since the fundraising drive is an all-or-nothing affair and nothing will be processed until/unless the goal is met, all funds are being pledged through Kickstarter. And unfortunately Kickstarter only processes credit card payments. Looks like you (and me, who is in the same boat) will have to get a credit card-carrying friend to help out.

          • Octium says:

Maybe a pre paid visa debit card will work with Kickstarter?

I know that in Australia at least you can buy them from the post office and they don’t need to be linked to a bank account to work (They can be thrown away once the balance is used up)

    • Octium says:

You might be able to get around the problem with something like a prepaid Visa gift card. You can buy them with cash and they are not linked to a bank account.

For example, in Australia you can get them from the post office…

You can also get re-loadable debit cards, however they are not so good from the privacy point of view but they do not have the $200 restriction.

James, What is your level of involvement with Newsbud? I am unsure if you have stated whether or not you will be reporting through Newsbud.
    Thank you.

    • Corbett says:

Thanks for the question. To be clear: I am not a partner of Newsbud, I will not be producing content specifically for Newsbud and I am not formally a member of the Newsbud team and I will not be paid by Newsbud. My work will continue to be produced at The Corbett Report and funded by you. Newsbud will repost my reports to their site. If Newsbud gets funded and launched, I hope that I’ll be able to work with them to fund wider ranging documentary projects, but this website will continue to be the vehicle for my work. I am, however, promoting Newsbud and its launch because I believe in it.

I have tried several times to register a donation but each time my email

is rejected ,saying it belongs to another user (that’s me)
