It looks like the frothing-at-the-mouth anti-women republicans are about to be able to destroy Planned Parenthood. Guess you have a victory here…
Seriously, they’re taking it down because of abortions, which through a loophole they can defund. But about 3% of the money from PP goes to abortions, they screen for testicular cancer, ovarian cancer, breast cancer, hormones both males and females, treat std’s and its spreading.
I understand the part that sounds like an annoying gov agency forcing itself into the homes of some. But I know some women, who are followed by a social worker (the equivalent in Canada, we got not Planned Parenthood, we can get tests for all that stuff very quickly at the hospital, at least in my town, and I support it with tax money, that I’m okay with giving, since such a huge portion of the budget goes to health. They’re not putting a gun to my head and there’s many ways to evade taxes, legally, like, not having anything in your own name, buying everything for someone in your family, then using said things, like a house, anyway, not gonna give away too much of my tricks. But as I was saying, I know women who have had their children taken away from them and continue to have social workers after them because they just can’t grow up and stop smoking marijuana while their 3 year old still can’t go to the potty. I’m not even sure you’re alerted to comments on old articles. But yes, sure, the things described here sounds like intrusions that are unwarranted, but in the few cases of people here in Quebec who have to have social workers in their life…well, I gotta say, it’s good to have someone watching their backs, so to speak. Unstable, not poor, but unstable, a bit mentally ill one way or another who probably shouldn’t have had children, causing the insanity of their bloodline continue way down the line. I guess it’s better to have someone neutral to take the baby/kids away in many circumstances. Yeah, we can blame it on poverty etc. but like I said it’s a spiral way down.
My ww2 grandpa was a fighter pilot mechanic, and just that was enough to make him crazy afterwards due to all the people he knew died as he repaired their planes, became an alcoholic big time. My dad was more of a binge drinker who would not show up sometimes after work or during the weekend and my mom was not helping by being extremely controlling, saying she felt unsafe (we lived in a very nice neighborhood when the middle class was still strong) and saying “just call me, you got 7 numbers to type in yadayada. It was toxic and they had to divorce, which happened way too late, but yeah, I guess PP as it is presented here, if tipped by a neighbour who heard my parents scream at each other all the time…they never heard their kids cry other than maybe me and my brother to get them to stop. I guess some idiot could have called the DPJ (kids protection service in quebec) but they would have seen quickly that we weren’t in danger but my dad would have probably gone on paranoid craze saying we called on him or some stuff like that, so yeah in this case just as good nobody bothered with the people in that house.
But I guess good has won versus a clear evil here in the US. When PP is dismantled, I’m sure payback will be a bitch. Who am I kidding, it’s just about destroying reproductive rights of both men and women, eugenics?
