I recall getting such satisfaction listening to Keith Olbermann’s ant-Bush rants on a weekly basis. His rawcuss, heart pounding railings against the stupidity of the Iraq War, and other such monstrous neocon constructs, circa 2003, were spot on. And then, after some years, came his mentioning about his twitter account, bla,bla,bla – and it was just about then that it started feeling like the beginning of the end. The end of meaningful social commentary. Even Olbermann, as bright as he was, seemed to get caught up not in the message, but in this godforsaken shallow competition in the form of how many fucking twitter followers he had. Twitter…. Tweet…. The twitter concept – oh, how well it follows on the heels of the advent of the sound bite. Twitter. The immaculate perfection, on how to dumb down society in 140 characters or less. The idea that people were, in reality, now going to allow themselves to be immersed in an entirely inane form of communication – including of all people, Keith Olbermann, whose justice warrior status seemed to quickly fade – was for me an out and out complete bummer, a complete downer!
Though absolutely no offense to Corbett, and that’s very much to his credit. Twitter is so ubiquitous these days that I hadn’t thought one way or the other if James had an account or not. To his credit, for all intents and purposes, it is and has been completely immaterial to the quality of his work whether he’s had an account, or not. James’ skill set way surpasses such a media, and he has in no uncertain terms succumbed to the likes of it. As James’ intimated, he used it, and not the other way around, for his own purposes.
But, my hat’s off non-the-less, to James for his decision to let it fly.
Sorry James, I disagree entirely with your video. I follow about 50 world leaders in truth on Twitter and I include you among them. Every new truth I have found has been a result of a link of a link from one of these individuals. If there is another method of keeping up to date with truth nuggets from individuals such as yourself I would like to know of it. I also find that it is quite easy to delete those individuals that are not providing a balanced and truthful perspective. I work 14 hours a day. I don’t have time to visit your website to see if you have a new gem of truth. I rely on your tweets. Thanks so much for your perspective over the last ten years. Please note that I am a member of your club – how else am I to keep up to date?

There’s an email subscription service which notifies you when James puts up new content.
I am subscribed, no problem. However there is another big aspect to Twitter. Every once and a while you get a tweet that leads you to a knowledge set that is absolutely amazing. Being subscribed to a few people locks you into the same way of thinking. That is not a good thing. Hope you can understand the importance of randomness. Rick

It relays not only the message of “James Corbett is not on twitter”, but also imparts that calmness and aesthetic value of being in a real world life….i.e. the absence of the turbulent infection caused by the virtual medium, Twitter.

Though, as far as deleting your twitter account, perhaps you should reconsider. It’s not like you’ve abused its platform, or rather, you haven’t been abused by its platform; and there are it seems conscientious truthers out there who, having found a way to harness it for the purposes of their edification, and Truth seeking, have become heavily reliant on it. Aye?

Never succumbed to twitter.
I was brought into Facebook kicking and screaming, so I could see photos my brothers and sisters shared.
Now I own two Facebook groups that people in my Oregon coastal town of 2200 find useful. One is a Buy and Sell group and other is a group of events and activities in our town. The second is a lot of work, but worth it.
I also moderate on a news and views page for our county. That one is a pain, and an eye opener on how divided our country has become. Still getting used to living in a small town….

This was good to hear.
I was on twitter for a while and to some extent I enjoyed it and learnt some things, however the downsides were that it was a time vampire and a horrific big brother data miner.

if it were not for Twitter, many of us would not have access to news direct from Syria, from Syrians and others we can trust based on long and critical observation. because besides the massive disinformation on Twitter, as everywhere else, on Twitter there are @ejmalrai @Canthama @Muraselon @IsaBlumi @LinaArabii @JaySouria @ikhras @les_politiques and many other real people in real places whose voices might never have been heard without Twitter
even the unpleasant aspects of Twitter can be instructive; we are better off without our illusions.

I understand what you are saying.
And, as I understand it, Twitter is a very popular communication tool for the middle east region.
Fortunately, we are Free Thinkers, our own Leaders, who can make our own choices, and even say “I won’t”. (F. – I.W. from previous Corbett’s “And Then There Were None”)
To me, it sounds like, for you, Twitter has some value in your endeavors to better conditions.

Personally, for me, I don’t have Twitter. Hell, I can’t even understand all the garbled symbols, brief messages with poor grammar, and deciphering what the original article or issue was.
But I am an old fart. I even prefer hand written cursive letters over emails when I write deep thoughts to the grandkids and family members.
And that is the way it should always be..you are not an old fart, you are a man that still have real values. Your grankids will be always proud of you.

Hi James, I cannot get into my Twitter account to delete it..even though I have not used it in about 4 years I believe? I do not remember my password and I am not receiving the email that allows me to change the password to enable me to delete the account..so, i think I ll let it be..
By the way, I am new here altogether. I have never thought I would ever be part of any alternative community but after watching your latest video about the useless ranting of Sybel Edmund on Twitter, from which you cut the last part to make this video about why there is no need to be on that ugly platform, I decided that this was the day I should get the right decision. Here I am..Keep up the great work.
